Looking for a game like Legend of Grimrock (1 and 2), this is the closest thing I have found since. Not quite up to their level, but very enjoyable. They removed a lot of burdomsome detail that is really not a lot of fun, like food and arrow storing. You never need to eat, and if you have a bow, you can shoot arrows. The levels were well made, all dungeon crawling and puzzlesA hint if you are just starting out: This is not like other games like this, you generally do not run around while fighting. Your group will take 15 HP damage every time you move away from an adjacent enemy, a coward penalty I guess. Took me a while to realize this, I thought it was incredibly hard to win a fight at first. For $10 it is a good deal if you like this type of game. About 10 hours to play through, do not think their is much replay value though. Really need a rogue on the team if you want to find hidden rooms, many of the hidden buttons would be nearly impossible to find otherwise.. Lame. Feels unfinished. Fleeing damage is a dumb mechanic. No storyline. Pointless and boreing.. Quite a nice dungeon crawler of the old school variety. Definately feels like all the ones you hear everything compared to in this genre (Dungeon Master, Legends of Grimrock, et al), but there are some caveats.What I liked:-The dungeon just feels right. It's got the look and atmosphere that I like in a dungeon crawler; nostalgic but with better graphics.-The Music is great and carries throughout the game. Suits the dungeon and gets top marks for adding the right kind of atmosphere.What I wasn't keen on:-The length of the game is short. You'd probably complete it in about 5-7 hours, but as the game doesn't cost much I'm not going to complain.-Simple gameplay. It's better than the mobile dungeon crawlers that seem to be popping up alot, but still quite lacking in depth. The levels feel a bit empty, the combat is straightforward as are the puzzles. I pray that this game is a test model for the devs to go on and make a full luxury game from what they've learnt, because if this were the skeleton of it, they'd have a hit on their hands.-Not a great deal of difference between the classes, and their abilities on levelling up are not very well described (no tooltips for them). The online manual goes a little way towards giving the statistical increases, but it's still not entirely clear. Oh wells, they're mostly just attribute increases or increased crit chance, that kinda thing.So overall I found it to be enjoyable and worth the money, though lacking the length and depth that I'm looking for in a dungeon crawler. Hopefully the money from this might have the devs make a full-on version, and dare I dream, perhaps with 2-player coop! ^o^ alright, I know.. just flights of fancy.. I'm oddly conflicted about this one. Overall, I'd say go for it if it's on sale for $5 or less. It's a short experience that you'll want to play at least twice, and for the most part I'd say it's a pretty good entry-level game into the genre.The good:Soundtrack is great. It's not intense, but more tavern-like.Atmosphere is fine. For once you're going up a tower instead of down into peril.Good with a catch:Lots of different classes to pick from, but there's no real unique development available except for the few SP you can pick in the beginning.It does have some replayability to it, but the game is very short. You can practically 100% the game in 5-6 hours. Achievement runs can potentially take one playthrough if you know exactly what to pick.The not-so-good:Mages run out of mana far too quickly, and potions are finite. You really need to conserve your potions. Elementalists\/black mages don't even get ranged spells until about halfway through the game so if you want to do any sort of ranged damage early on, You need to first find the bow in floor 2. . That said, priests\/white mages can hold their ground with a hammer if they run out of mana.The flee damage penalty is stupid. Sometimes I won't even know an enemy is near me and I'll take a step and "oh you fleed you lose 25 hp and your priest dies". It becomes a bit more manageable late-game, but when you need to escape in early-game with no supplies you really need to use the environment around you to sleep. I guess it helps you be more 'strategic' but still, in a genre like this it's no longer a good idea.What would make the game better:Quick swap on hand selections. Less time needed to waste on opening your inventory to swap spells\/weapons.Better ranged ability.Lessening\/removing the flee damage.Even with these points in mind, I still found I enjoyed my adventure and will play through again to get the rest of the achievements. Hope to see more in the future.
